💜 Care Package Assistant
Care Package Assistants are the hands and hearts behind every box we deliver. They’re the ones who turn piles of donated items into complete care packages that bring comfort, dignity, and real relief to families in need.
Whether it’s sorting supplies, double-checking boxes, or adding a friendly note before delivery, this role is a core part of what makes The Core of Volunteers truly special. Every package you help build directly supports someone rebuilding after hardship.
Core Responsibilities
To assemble, organize, and prepare monthly Core C.A.R.E. packages that meet the immediate needs of families affected by disaster, hardship, or transition. Care Package Assistants ensure each package is filled with quality items, accurately labeled, and ready for distribution.
- Assist in sorting and organizing donations for packaging.
- Pack boxes with care, following item checklists for each family.
- Label, group, and stage completed packages for pickup or delivery.
- Work as part of a team during monthly packaging days and special events.
- Help with setup and cleanup of the workspace before and after packaging.
- Communicate with Coordinators if items are missing or in low supply.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace for safety and efficiency.
Required Skills
- Teamwork and good communication.
- Attention to detail and willingness to follow directions.
- Positive attitude and respect for families receiving support.
- Ability to lift or move boxes (with help available).
Tools & Systems Used
- HubSpot Tickets / Checklists
- Volunteer Sign-In Forms
- Google Sheets or printed inventory lists
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Care Package Coordinator
- Collaborates with: Care Captains, Delivery Drivers, Event Volunteers
Time Commitment
- One day per month (usually on Care Package Day)
- 3–6 hours during event day, with optional help before or after
Key Outcomes
- Packages are complete, organized, and ready for delivery.
- Supplies are used efficiently with minimal waste.
- Volunteers feel connected and proud of their contribution.
Advancement Path
Care Package Assistants who show reliability and leadership may advance to Care Package Coordinator or Event Volunteer Lead, helping manage future packaging events and delivery logistics.
