Pickup & Delivery Driver
Pickup & Delivery Drivers are the boots on the ground for The Core, connecting donations, supplies, and care packages with the families who need them most.
These volunteers are often the last step in a long chain of kindness, delivering care, hope, and a friendly face right to someone’s doorstep. Drivers keep our operations moving, ensuring every box that’s packed makes it safely to its destination.
This is a flexible, high-impact role for anyone with a reliable vehicle, a little free time, and a big heart.
Core Responsibilities
To safely and reliably transport items between partner organizations, storage facilities, and families in need. Drivers help maintain the flow of donations and care packages, ensuring timely delivery with care and professionalism.
- Pick up and deliver care packages, supplies, or donated goods.
- Confirm deliveries and provide status updates in HubSpot or via team chat.
- Follow assigned routes or work with Coordinators to plan efficient drop-offs.
- Handle items carefully and protect family privacy.
- Communicate any issues (delays, missing packages, unsafe conditions) promptly.
- Assist with loading or unloading at event sites or partner locations.
Required Skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Dependable, polite, and punctual.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate-weight boxes.
- Friendly communication and customer service mindset.
Tools & Systems Used
- HubSpot Tickets for delivery tracking
- Slack or Group Chat for route coordination
- Google Maps or Route Planner for navigation
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Care Package Coordinator / Event Director
- Collaborates with: Care Captains, Event Coordinators, Fulfillment Specialists
Time Commitment
- Flexible schedule; assignments as needed.
- Typical commitment: 2–4 hours per route, 1–2 times per month.
Key Outcomes
- All deliveries and pickups are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
- Families receive their care packages with dignity and a friendly connection.
- Coordinators can rely on accurate delivery tracking and communication.
Advancement Path
Pickup & Delivery Drivers who demonstrate reliability and leadership may advance to Logistics Coordinator or Fleet Lead, managing delivery routes, volunteer drivers, and vehicle scheduling.
