Social Media & Marketing Volunteer
Social Media & Marketing Volunteers help tell our story, spreading hope, awareness, and connection through social media, community groups, and online outreach.
They’re the friendly voice of The Core online, keeping our Facebook groups active, sharing event updates, highlighting volunteer stories, and helping guide families or new members to the right resources.
This role is perfect for creative communicators who love people, storytelling, and using social media to build something positive.
Core Responsibilities
To amplify the Core’s message and mission by creating, sharing, and moderating online content that builds community trust, celebrates our volunteers, and connects people to help and opportunities.
- Create and post updates, event reminders, and stories across social media platforms.
- Moderate Core Facebook groups — answering questions, keeping discussions positive, and directing users to the right forms or team leads.
- Share updates about events, volunteer roles, and urgent needs.
- Help take photos and short videos during events for social and blog use.
- Engage with comments and messages in a friendly, professional tone.
- Collaborate with Event Coordinators and leadership on announcements and campaigns.
- Track engagement metrics and report trends or improvements for outreach.
- Ensure all posts align with Core’s values of transparency, kindness, and impact.
Required Skills
- Comfortable using Facebook, Instagram, and Canva (training available).
- Friendly, patient, and reliable communicator.
- Strong writing and grammar; positive tone online.
- Basic photo or video editing skills a plus.
- Organized and consistent — able to post and follow up regularly.
Tools & Systems Used
- Facebook Page & Groups
- Instagram / Canva / HubSpot CRM for tracking engagement
- Slack & Email for internal communication
Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Director of Vision and Strategy
- Collaborates with: Event Coordinators, Impact Director, and Volunteer Leaders
Time Commitment
- 2–4 hours weekly (remote and flexible)
- Occasional extra time during major events or campaigns
Key Outcomes
- Active, positive social media presence across Core platforms.
- Increased awareness of volunteer opportunities and programs.
- Families and volunteers easily find help and information through online posts.
- Consistent community engagement and growth across all channels.
Advancement Path
Volunteers who demonstrate consistency, creativity, and good judgment may advance to Marketing Lead or Communications Director, helping guide Core’s outreach strategy and partnerships.
